Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend! We’ve been laying low over here at the Bendall casa. The hubs has been sent to Mexico for work for six (!) weeks but luckily he was able to fly back for the weekend. Good stuff.
Anywho, I know you’ve been dying to hear Part 2 of my Napa Review after perusing through the mouthwatering deliciousness that comprised Napa Valley Review Part 1 and my Hot Air Balloon Ride. Well, you’re in luck! This time I’m going to give you the low down on the best places for sipping. I mean this is why you come to Napa, right?!
I already told you how the hubs surprised me with the Hot Air Balloon Ride, well there was one more fun surprise for the trip . . .
Winery tour by limo!!! Oh yeah!
We started the day off at Del Dotto. The staff was very knowledgeable here and the wine was delish. They also served us some really yummy cheese to go with our wine! Way to a girl’s heart 🙂
After Del Dotto, we headed to Stags Leap. The grounds were beautiful and they had some great reds.
After two wineries we thought it was time to head to lunch at Oakville Grocery Co.
This.place.was.awesome! I highly recommend it for a nice sandwich in between wineries. They have some great artisan sandwiches as well as plenty of salads, meats and cheeses. We also bought a few spreads to take home with us and try out.
After lunch we headed to Castello di Amorosa. This was a full on castle right in the middle of Napa, complete with a moat and a drawbridge.
The weather gave the castle an eerie Transylvania-type feel
Dinner in the Great Hall anyone?
Oh and did I mention I finally got crowned princess when I was there?
We finished out Day 1 at Sterling Vineyards. They have really cool gondola lifts to bring us up the mountain. It provided great views of the surrounding vineyards! Their tasting was really interesting too because rather than going to a tasting room, we went on a walking tour of their winery and stopped at each station for a tasting.
Day 2 of tasting was little more low key. Our limo was replaced with what we lovingly called, the Green Machine. Hahahaha.
We went to a vineyard that is really meaningful to Pete and I. Clos du Val, we served their cab sauv at our wedding.
Our final stop was the most anticipated and my absolute favorite. St. Helena Olive OIl Co. has probably the best olive oils and vinegars ever! Last time Pete and I were in Napa, we visited St. Helena Olive Oil Co. and we were there for about an hour, finally made our purchases and then went back to buy more! Yeah, its that good. Some of our favs-the jalapeno olive oil, orange olive oil with cranberry balsamic, balsamic tradizionale and the rosemary olive oil. They do tastings there and its impossible not to taste all the goodness. I highly highly recommend this place!
Overall, Napa was such an amazingly fun experience. Readers, have you been to Napa? What were your favorite places?
