Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Bendall!
After the ceremony, the real fun began! The guests moved to a sunny grassy spot to soak up the afternoon rays and some delicious cocktails! We hired Maui Bars Are Us to make delectable, tropical creations for our guests to sip including mojitos, White Orchids, tropical mimosas and lavendar infused lemon drops. All delish! And of course no cocktail hour is complete without appetizers. We brought kept the Island flavor with catering from Cafe O’Lei. My favorites were the tomato tartar with fresh bocaccini, the fish taquitos with chipotle aioli, the gazpacho garnished with jumbo shrimp and the roasted peking duck on a sweet bun with hoisin and scallions. Mouthwatering.
During the cocktail hour we asked our wedding planner’s husband, Jamie Lawrence to sing and play guitar for us. It was so mellow and laid back. Just like it should be on the Hawaiian Islands. His singing was one of the highlights of the whole day!
After the cocktail hour, we sat down for our formal dinner. We were so fortunate to be able to have everything outdoors and the weather was perfect-not too hot, not too sunny, not too cloudy!
The breeze from the Pacific that billowed through our canopy tents sedated everyone as we dug into our shrimp and papaya and avocado salad with passionfruit and papaya seed dressing to start followed by blackened mahimahi with fresh papaya salsa or braised shortribs with crushed ginger and essense of anise. The food was unbelievable!
One of my favorite parts of the dinner was the hula dancing! Pete and I strove to make this wedding a truly Hawaiian experience and we just couldn’t resist hiring two dancers to entertain us while we ate.
The best part was that we all got a chance to participate and learn a few moves!
Even the boys!
And of course after dinner we indulged in some amazing wedding cake! Each of the three layers of the cake had a different flavor: red velvet with cream cheese filling and butter cream frosting, coconut cake with Chantilly mousse filling and pineapple essence, and finally passion fruit cake, passion fruit filling and champagne essence frosting. It was oh so delicious!
Of course the real icing on the cake was the gorgeous Maui sunset after dinner!
Fun with flowers!
And of course no wedding reception would be complete without lots of dancing!
After the reception we headed back to the Wailea Maui Marriott where we were all staying for a fun-filled after party! I changed to a shorter, more weather friendly dress and we spent a few hours playing some fun games like ping pong, Wii, Twister and taking fun photos at the photo booth!
